The OSI Group was chosen by McDonald’s in 1955 to be their hamburger patty supplier, and the deal between the two companies was signed by the founder of McDonald’s and the sons of Otto Kolschowsky. This partnership would become stronger year after year, and McDonald’s soon became their number one client. When the technology of freezing meat became widely available in the 1960s, McDonald’s decided to terminate its deal with hundreds of meat suppliers who deliver fresh meat, but they decided to retain Otto & Sons contract because of the trust that they have built through the years.
Otto & Sons changed their name to OSI Industries in 1975, and they experienced exponential growth as McDonald’s is spreading across the world. OSI Industries continues to grow in the present, being one of the largest corporations in America, and they have since expanded overseas, operating mainly in Europe, Asia, and North America. In 2016, OSI Group reported value was at $6.1 billion, making them the 58th largest private company in the United States of America.
